Itinerary for our 1 Week Tour of Scotland:
Day 1:
Start your trip to Scotland with a proper visit to either its biggest city or its stunning capital. Stylish Glasgow has much to offer with a vibrant city centre full of restaurants, galleries, shops and places of historical interest.
Similarly, if you choose to start from Edinburgh, you’ll get a chance to climb up the Royal Mile to the ancient Edinburgh Castle and enjoy the shops, cafés and vibe of this truly European city.
Day 2:
Discover the land of Braveheart and Outlaw King! Visit Stirling Castle, take a walk in the Old Town and imagine yourself entangled in a time-travel drama at Doune Castle – Outlander’s Castle Leoch.
Day 3:
Firstly, we take a boat ride to the island sanctuary of Inchmahome Priory connected with Mary, Queen of Scots. After that, we drive into Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park. Here we enjoy a hike in the land of legendary Rob Roy and visit his grave in scenic Balquhidder.
Day 4:
A morning drive takes us through the most amazing valley of them all: Glen Coe. This wonder of nature stepped in history leads us to the winter capital of Fort William. Further we head west to Glenfinnan for its Monument and Viaduct. Evening ferry carries us to the Isle of Skye and its cosy Portree.
Day 5:
Firstly, a road trip around Skye allows us to experience all the picturesque places: Fairy Glen, Kilt Rock, Old Man of Storr and Fairy Pools. After that, a bridge crossing to the mainland takes us to Eilean Donan – the most recognisable of all Scottish castles. We finish the day at the banks of Loch Ness.
Day 6:
Western shores of Loch Ness lead us to Urquhart Castle, where we try to spot monsters, ghosts and Disney princesses. Further up north we pass through Inverness and visit Culloden – the place of the final battle of the tragic Jacobite Rebellion. We stop at a quirky crossing in Carrbridge and drive back through the Highlands to rest in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park.
Day 7:
The road leads south to the hills of Perthshire, so we can enjoy a walk with views of Blair Castle and a tour of a whisky distillery in Pitlochry. After a light hike near Killin, we head farther south to reach the scenic route along the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond and arrive in Edinburgh or Glasgow by evening.
